Hunter Sykes: Producer | Director

Hunter is the owner of Coldstream Creative, a filmmaker since 2005, and the great-grandson and grandson of participants in the 1937 East African hunting safari with J.A. Hunter. With a BA in History and minor in Geography from the University of Colorado and an MA in International Environmental Policy from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, Hunter has always been drawn to issues around the environment, sustainability, and culture. Since first hearing stories of the family adventures on safari, he's pondered the family legacy of trophy hunting and its role in the worsening state of endangered wildlife. Hunter is excited to be working with these rare and fascinating films and diaries at long last.  He currently lives in southwest Colorado with his wife and young son.

Alex Hunter: Conservationist |Safari Guide | Film protagonist 


As one of Kenya's most highly respected safari guides, Alex is both the focus of this film and our guide throughout our travels in Kenya. Alex is well-known for his wildlife conservation efforts in East Africa, his adventurous walking safaris, and his guided expeditions to the summits of Mt Meru, Mt Kenya and Mt Kilimanjaro. He is the grandson of John Alexander (J.A.) Hunter, a renowned big game hunter, wildlife manager, author, and—later in life—conservationist. When not leading safaris or mountaineering expeditions, Alex hosts guests at his Ol Pejeta Bush Camp in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy of Northern Kenya.

Annette DeNoyer: Screenwriter | Researcher


Annette is a screenwriter whose background includes narrative and documentary scripts, as well as the creation and direction of dozens of marketing and promotional videos and shorts through her consultancy firm, Annette DeNoyer Consulting. With a Master’s degree in creative writing from Northwestern University and a public policy degree from Duke University, Annette enjoys both the art of powerful storytelling and the exploration of societal issues from political, economic, environmental, and community perspectives. An avid traveler and dual citizen of the US and UK, she now lives in London and spends much of her free time traveling and exploring other cultures.


Tyler Maddox: Director of Photography


Tyler’s passion for creating images started on a trip to Alaska at 20-years-old. “I wanted to do something I loved that allowed me to be in amazing locations around the world.” A few months later, he started a business and has been doing commercial photography and cinematography ever since. Tyler shoots commercials, TV shows, and movies, and his jobs have taken him around the world with top clients and allowed for an adventurous lifestyle. Tyler lives on 50-acres in the woods of Oregon but can be found all over the world, always with a camera in his hand. You can view some his work at TylerMaddoxTV and MaddoxVisual.


Darren Campbell: Camera


A former partner in Coldstream Creative, Darren still works in close collaboration on many projects. His life-long passion for skiing and other outdoor pursuits helped nurture his keen interest in environmental conservation and sustainability. With ten-plus years of experience filming in a wide variety of locations and conditions, he has become a skilled action and nature cinematographer. Darren has a BA in Environmental Conservation with a minor in Economics from the University of Colorado and an MA in International Environmental Policy from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. Based in Ashland, Oregon, he is also kept busy playing guitar in the bluegrass quintet, Eight Dollar Mountain.

Nat Kidder: Editor

Nat Kidder is a freelance video editor and motion graphic artist with a long list of credits on projects for national brands, sports teams, non-profits, and more. He grew up in Western Massachusetts and received a BA in English from The University of Oregon and a BA in Digital Arts from Expression College. A life-long skier who's fond of riding bikes in the dirt and strangely obsessed with remote-control cars, he's the father of two and lives in Woodacre, CA. You can view his work at


André Sumelius: Film Score Composer

André is a Finnish/American composer and jazz musician. He has performed around the globe, leading groups on the international stage with a vast array of top-class musicians including Ambrose Akinmusire, Julian Lage, Perico Sambeat, and Dayna Stephens, among many others. He received the Prestigious "Emma" award in his native Finland for his debut album in 2003, produced five albums in collaboration with artists on stages and recording studios in New York, Barcelona and Helsinki, and served as the artistic director of the Porvoo Jazz Festival in Finland. Having relocated to the SF Bay Area in 2015, André continues to collaborate with international artists in the exciting world of Virtual Reality and ambient music, in addition to creating scores and soundtracks for film and multi-media with his company, Fly and Roll.
